OUR STORY
With over 28,000 undergraduate and over 10,000 graduate students, NC State University is a culture and leader-shaping institution. For generations, Christian faculty, churches, and campus ministries have labored to grow a kingdom movement on campus. We are excited to provide an exciting new resource to draw together the extended Christian community and to resource students and faculty to grow in Christ.
In early 2024, a handful of leaders in the Raleigh community worked with NCSC to plant an independent Christian study center in close proximity to the campus of NC State. By June 2024, the NC State Study Center took ownership of a beautiful home located at 201 Brooks Avenue, just north of NC State’s main campus, a space with ample room for hospitality and fellowship. As of July 2024, the NC State Study Center is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit and a member of the Consortium of Christian Study Centers.

On the national scale, Christian study centers first emerged in the 1970s and 80s, led by the flagship Center for Christian Study at the University of Virginia. For the last 50 years, study centers have sprouted up at colleges and universities around the country. The North Carolina Study Center (NCSC) was founded in 2015 at UNC-Chapel Hill, and has quickly become a flourishing center of Christian life and thought and a home-away-from-home for hundreds of students.
North Carolina Study Center
The NC State Study Center functions uniquely by providing a place for Christian formation and drawing together the extended Christian community. We desire to be a place where students and faculty from NC State, as well as the surrounding college campuses (Meredith, William Peace, Wake Tech, etc.), can experience the welcome, wisdom, and truth of Christ.
Our goal is that these institutions would be great places to grow as a Christian. By drawing from the riches of scripture and the Christian community, students can flourish in secular spaces as they grow in God’s goodness, truth, and beauty.
We take a whole person view of education, and focus on four areas of growth:
knowledge, seeking truth in scripture and discovering the relation of all things to God;
character, growing in the image and character of Jesus and enjoying Christian flourishing;
community, fostering friendship as a basis for growth and well-being while finding rest and belonging;
vocation, equipping students to proclaim the gospel through their unique callings and human vocation.
Now is the time to grow an amazing resource for NC State and the Raleigh community. Please join us in prayer and consider how God may be calling you to support the mission.
Our early objectives are to establish a network of students, faculty, alumni, and parents in the NC State and surrounding community, discern what the needs of the community are, and begin to open our doors to offer the welcome and hospitality of Christ. During the 2024-25 school year, we will begin offering programs while preparing our future home at Brooks Ave. As the Study Center grows and develops, we will offer consistent programming for different areas of growth including seminars and speaker events, discipleship, theological education courses and leadership programs, and Christ-like hospitality.
